Ford is official automotive partner of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, sending over 1,100 vehicles to Scotland. The Ford press office team has brought the following vehicles to Mar Hall:

The latest Ford vehicle range is retaining the Blue Oval at the top of the UK sales charts:

  • Ford has been the number one UK car brand for 37 successive years
  • Ford commercial vehicles have been the UK’s favourite for 48 years
  • Ford stretched its retail car sales lead over its nearest rival in 2013 by 54 per cent
  • Ford Fiesta is the UK’s best-seller for the fifth successive year and best-selling UK car of all time
  • Ford Focus was second and Ford Transit sixth in overall vehicle sales
  • Ford Transit maintained its clear lead in CV sales


One in three Ford vehicles globally is powered by a UK-built engine from either Dagenham or Bridgend with each have the capacity to produce 1,000,000 engines a year, while Halewood ships around 530,000 gearboxes annually.

Leading the development of Dagenham and Bridgend’s latest Turbo Diesel Common-rail injection (TDCi) and EcoBoost petrol engines are Ford Dunton’s 3,000 engineers, who have benefitted from a five-year £1.5 billion Ford investment in low carbon, environmentally friendly powertrain technology. Dunton’s three-cylinder, 1.0-litre EcoBoost, available across the Ford car and van range and now capable of 140PS, is International Engine of the Year for an unprecedented third consecutive year.
