The new Focus ST makes its global debut at the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed. Ford’s latest performance model heads a line-up of powerful Fords that also includes the all-new Ford Mustang and the new Fiesta Red and Black Editions.
Jim Farley, executive vice president, Global Marketing Sales and Service will officially unveil the new Focus ST before professional drivers showcase its abilities on the legendary Hillclimb on all three days.
Available for the first time in diesel form, the new Focus ST is also displayed on a dedicated Ford stand at Goodwood alongsidethe new Kuga, all-new EcoSport, Fiesta Red, Fiesta ST and a Transit Custom Campervan.
Ford’s tiny but powerful 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine also will also be on show at Goodwood, after being named International Engine of the Year for an unprecedented three years in a row.
Goodwood’s renowned 1.16 miles (1.86 kilometres) hill climb is the centrepiece of the British stately home’s annual Festival of Speed and provides the perfect setting to demonstrate performance and handling prowess.
This year, Ford has teamed up with Sony Computer Entertainment to stage the first-ever “virtual vs real” race on the Hill. On its first run each day, the new Focus ST will compete in real time against the Focus ST featured in the Gran Turismo®6 game for PlayStation®3.
A designated gamer at the Ford stand will pit their skills against Ben Collins – formerly “The Stig“ from Top Gear – with the action displayed on big screens throughout the festival. Visitors to the Ford stand also have the chance to record their own times on the Gran Turismo®6 simulators.
Also starring at Goodwood is the all-new Mustang that makes its first U.K. appearance. A 5.0-litre V8 Fastback yielding more than 426 PS and 529 Nm of torque is taking part in the Supercar Class, with Ford Team RS vehicle dynamics specialist David Put at the wheel. Ford also will display a Mustang Convertible.
The new Fiesta Red Edition and Black Editions will be the most powerful 1-litre volume volume production cars ever when they go on sale in September. The new 140 PS version of the 1.0-litre EcoBoost offers more power per litre than the Bugatti Veyron and the Ferrari 458 Speciale.
Ford is also handing Goodwood debuts to the S-MAX and Mondeo Vignale concepts – vehicles that express the premium design, craftsmanship, and exclusive specification customers can expect from Ford Vignale. Festival goers will be able to see them on display at Goodwood’s Moving Motorshow Pavillion.
The 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from June 27-29 inclusive.
